Your profile
In your profile you can set up how the forum works and looks for you. You can also find links to list all of your posts, and some statistics on your use of the forum.
There is a list of options for changing your profile.
Account settings
This page holds information that identifies you on this forum. For security reasons, you will need to enter your (current) password to make changes to this
How do I hide my email address?
If you want to hide your email address and didn't say so when you registered you can do this here. Check the 'Hide email address from public?' box under 'Account settings'.
Why can't I change some details, like my username?
To prevent spamming only forum staff can change your username and some other details. If you want these changed contact a moderator.
Personal details
You can change your personal information on this page. This information will be displayed throughout the forum. If you aren't comfortable with sharing some information, simply skip it - nothing here is required.
Picture
You can choose a personal picture (called an avatar) here. Choose from the selection provided, link to one somewhere else or upload one onto the forum server. Linked and uploaded personal pictures must be no bigger than 150 x100 pixels.
Personal text and custom title
This is displayed on your posts.
Signature
This is displayed after your posts. Your signature can include links.
Who can see my personal picture and the like?
Only registered members who are logged in.
Display preferences
This section allows you to customize the look and layout of the forum.
Show board descriptions
Checking this box will show a short description of a board's purpose on each board index.
Hide people's personal pictures and signatures
Checking the 'Don't show other users' avatars' box will hide other users' personal pictures (or avatars). Checking the 'Don't show other users' signatures' hides users' signatures
Return to topics after posting
Checking this box means you will return to the topic you've just posted in rather than the board index.
Turn off 'new replies while posting' warning
The software (to be kind and help you look intelligent) warns you if someone has posted in a topic since you started drafting a reply. To turn this off, check the 'Don't warn on new replies made while posting' box.
Add a 'quick reply' box to topics
This adds a simple type-and-post box for replies to each topic.
the options are:
- Off
- On (choose 'show, on by default')
- On but hidden (choose 'show, off by default')
Tip: if it's on but hidden, you can show the quick reply box using the link at the bottom of a topic.
Notifications and email
The forum allows you to be notified of replies to posts, newly posted topics, and forum announcements by email. You can set you prerences for this here. For mor information see Notifications - getting messages by email.
Can I post by email?
Not at present. This may be introduced in the future.
Personal message options
Personal messages are a private message system for forum members. You can set preferences for your personal messages.
I sent a message - why isn't in my outbox?
To save message you send check 'Save a copy of each message in my outbox'.
Every time I log on I get an alert that tells me I have new messages…
To turn this off uncheck 'Show a popup when I receive a new messages'.
Can I block messages from a user?
To ignore messages from a user type his/her name into the Ignore list (one name per line). To ignore all messages just type '*'.
