Title: Free TB and TB/HIV co-infection resources for third sector organisations
Post by: Elias Phiri on March 24 2011, 12:22 pm
Dear colleagues,

TB Alert has joined with the African Health Policy Network (AHPN) to raise awareness about TB and TB-HIV co-infection in the UKís African community.

Today, on World TB Day, 24th March, we are pleased to announce the launch of a new resource which provides the African community living in the UK with essential information about TB and TB-HIV co-infection. Although the leaflet is targeted to African community living in the UK, it is also a useful resource for other communities in the UK who are also vulnerable to TB and TB-HIV co-infection.

The leaflet, which was developed with support from NAM, explains what TB is, how it is transmitted, risk factors, common symptoms and the relationship between TB and HIV.  The leaflet also advises people what action they should take if they are concerned about TB or HIV, and provides a comprehensive list of sources of advice and information.

If you would like to order printed copies, please call 01273 234029 or email Paul Dawson on The resource is free to third sector organisations to help you raise awareness of TB and TB-HIV co-infection among your service users or members. This resource is part of TB Alertís The Truth About TB programme, which brings together Primary Care Trusts (PCTs), local authorities and the third sector to raise awareness about TB among the most vulnerable communities.  To find out more visit
