Title: Job Opportunity at Positive East: Peer Support Coordinator
Post by: UK CAB Moderator on June 11 2015, 11:13 am
This new and exciting post will involve the recruitment, training and engagement of HIV peer support volunteers to enable people who are living with HIV, promote their health and wellbeing; and build and sustain their levels of independence.
We are looking for someone to recruit, train and engage with HIV+ volunteers whose role will be to enable people, also living with HIV, to articulate and achieve their goals, access services and support and promote their health and wellbeing. The aim is to build and sustain the levels of independence of people living with HIV.

This is a new role, funded by Big Lottery Fund, Reaching Communities, and is fundamental to our aim of developing and expanding our peer support services.   We are ambitious and hope that the role will eventually encompass the management of paid peer support staff as well as volunteers.

The successful candidate will have adjusted well to living with HIV, be open about their HIV status, will have been HIV positive for between 3 and 5 years and on antiretroviral therapy.

They will have experience of successfully managing people (either paid staff or volunteers) and of providing emotional and practical support to individuals. Experience of successfully supporting others to navigate health, social care and support services (including from the voluntary sector) will be an advantage.
