NAT would like to announce two full time vacancies at our London office (EC1V):

1. Communications Manager (closing date 24 September - 10am)
2. Graduate Policy & Campaigns Officer (closing date 2 October - 12 noon)

COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER
Salary range: £28,771 - £34,150
London EC1V

All our work is focused on achieving five strategic goals:

• Effective HIV prevention in order to halt the spread of HIV
• Early diagnosis of HIV through ethical, accessible and appropriate testing
• Equitable access to treatment, care and support for people living with HIV
• Enhanced understanding of the facts about HIV and living with HIV in the UK
• Eradication of HIV-related stigma and discrimination.

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative communications professional to join our small but dynamic staff team, reporting to the Chief Executive. Your role will be to shape all our external communications - raising awareness and understanding of HIV in the UK, improving the quality of media reporting of HIV and continuing to strengthen NAT’s profile and increase support for the charity. 

We are looking for a candidate with: at least three years' communications experience; a sound knowledge of news, current affairs and specialist media; good media contacts and a track record of gaining media coverage.   You will have excellent communication skills, experience of developing and implementing communications strategies and the ability to grasp complex subjects and translate them into clear media messages. You will also be confident developing web-content and working with social media.

A team player you will also have a flexible approach, good interpersonal skills and the ability to juggle a varied and demanding workload.  You will also have the ability to manage and motivate staff and volunteers.

GRADUATE POLICY & CAMPAIGNS OFFICER


Salary: circa £20.5k
London EC1V

NAT is the UK's leading charity dedicated to transforming society's response to HIV.  We provide fresh thinking, expertise and practical resources.  We champion the rights of people living with HIV and campaign for change.

This is an exciting opportunity for a graduate looking for a career in policy to join our small but dynamic Policy and Campaigns Team.  NAT works on a wide range of issues that affect people living with HIV, focusing on five strategic goals:

Effective HIV prevention to halt the spread of HIV
Early diagnosis of HIV through ethical, accessible and appropriate testing
Equitable access to treatment, care and support for people living with HIV
Enhanced understanding of the facts about HIV and living with HIV in the UK
Eradication of HIV-related stigma and discrimination.
Educated to degree level, you will be flexible and self-motivating with proven research and communication skills, the ability to develop clear policy positions and recommendations, a commitment to human rights and a broad understanding of HIV in a UK context.

You will also have good interpersonal skills and the ability to juggle a varied and demanding workload and quickly get to grips with new subject areas.  A team player, you will engage with, and contribute to, a wide range of policy issues but you will have lead responsibility for a number of specific areas of NAT’s policy agenda.

Although experience of policy development and an understanding of the NHS and local and national government will be an advantage, training and support will be provided to enable you to develop your skills within this role.
