Healthwatch – Communities Involved (H-CI)
Posted on: February 5 2013, 11:29 am

See information below from National Voices, more information is at:
http://healthwatch-ci.co.uk/

H-CI is a new project of National Voices, Regional Voices, CSV and Navca. Through our voluntary sector networks we hope to reach 30,000 groups across the country with a message for them to pass on to local people – to get involved, Get on the Map.

Local health and social care is changing rapidly. If people want to participate in shaping care services and hold them to account, they need to make themselves known to the new organisations that are taking charge. They need to ‘get on the map’ and they may need support to do so.

This project will help to inform and educate people on the opportunities to participate locally, including the establishment of new local Healthwatch organisations from April 2013.

It offers your own members and supporters the chance to identify themselves as potential participants by signing up to get on the map of involvement our project partners will hold, and which will be made available to Healthwatch and other organisations.

Event for National Voices members
We are holding an event to explain the project and provide you with materials on Wednesday 20 February 2013 at the Royal Society, central London.
To register please email Sarah: sarah.scadding@nationalvoices.org.uk

Help for your members and supporters
To help your local supporters and structures understand the changes in local health and social care, and the opportunities to get involved, H-CI offers:
•   a website with resources and a place to sign up for the Map: http://www.healthwatch-ci.co.uk/
•   regional workshops to provide people with the skills and knowledge to build their confidence to get involved in a way that best suits them

•   free training opportunities on involvement, lay leadership, roles and responsibilities and equalities

What you can do to help
1.    Get this information out to your networks and partners – download resources from the project website.
 http://healthwatch-ci.co.uk/
2.    Encourage your members to sign up for more information and to get themselves on the Map – the sign up page: http://healthwatch-ci.co.uk/signup/
We will keep their details on file and ensure that they are kept informed of developments through us or their local Healthwatch.

3.    Watch for further bulletins and updates and share them with your members.
