Gender-based violence, HIV and the post-2015 agenda
Posted on: February 15 2013, 10:12 am

From UNAIDS:

UNAIDS is organizing a high level consultation focusing on the nexus of HIV and gender-based violence in the context of post 2015 discussions. The priority theme of the CSW57 meeting is the elimination and prevention of all forms of violence against women and girls. An emerging theme is key gender equality issues to be reflected in the post-2015 development framework.

UNAIDS is developing a background paper to inform the high level consultation that will contribute to concrete outcomes to address HIV risk due to violence against women, girls and transgender individuals. The main audience for the paper is the participants of the high level consultation and the CSW57. The consultation is part of a longer process towards ensuring that programs and policies successfully integrate the prevention of HIV and of violence against women, girls and transgender individuals in development frameworks replacing the Millennium Development Goals (post-2015).

We acknowledge that the on-line consultation has limitations due to the limited timeframe available. However, we hope to hear from as many diverse voices as possible to reflect the lived reality of women, girls and transgender individuals facing HIV risk, lack of quality AIDS treatment and services, and violence. It is our hope that your input will translate to concrete recommendations and outcomes from CSW57 and in future processes to setting the post-2015 agenda.

The survey consists of 4 sections:

Questions 1- 4 are about your organization
Questions 5-10 are intended to understand and define the problem of gender-based violence and HIV
Question 11-15 cover the current responses, policy gaps and alliances.
Question 16 20 address the way forward and provide an opportunity for you to give recommendations on what should follow the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to address gender-based violence and HIV for women, girls and transgender individuals.

The survey should take between 15-20 minutes to complete.

The paper will be available by the end of April 2013.

Thank you for your time!
