Sex and the city: STDs of old London
Posted on: March 27 2013, 07:42 pm

People in, or with easy access to, London might be interested in this event at the Wellcome Library on Thursday 4th April:

From 'sweating for the pox' to the Kingsland 'foul wards', Dr Lesley Hall looks at the history of sexually transmitted diseases, with particular reference to how Londoners accessed treatment from the 17th century onwards, and changes in attitudes and provisions over that period. Join us for a remarkable medical and social history of perilous lust and its consequences in the capital city.

Speaker: Dr Lesley Hall, Senior Archivist, Wellcome Library

Better even than that, it's free!
