HIV and Later Life (HALL) Study’s End of Project Event - 13 Sept 2013
Posted on: August 6 2013, 09:06 am

Please see email invitation below from HALL - an HIV and ageing study
----------------
This event is to thank all those who have helped us research the experience of living with HIV in later years, and to present our findings to participants, stakeholders, and the wider HIV, ageing, and policy communities.

The event will start, after a wonderful buffet lunch, with a distinguished keynote speaker. We will then present our research findings, and end the day with a question and answer session, refreshments, and the chance to meet and network with members of the HIV community, the HALL Team, policy makers and academics. The event is free and we would be delighted if you could attend.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Professor Kevin Fenton, National Director of Health and Wellbeing, Public Health England
WHEN: Friday 13th September 2013, from 12 noon until 5.30 p.m.
WHERE: The Old Cinema & Fyvie Hall, University of Westminster 309 Regent Street, London (a 5 minute walk from Oxford Circus tube station)

Given effective treatments and increased incidence of HIV among older people, the population of people with HIV in the UK is getting older. The USA’s Centers for Disease Control has estimated that by 2015, half of the people living with HIV will be aged 50 and above. Yet knowledge about the social worlds and quality of life of older people with HIV is not keeping up with clinical knowledge about ageing with HIV. To better understand the everyday lives, social support, and well-being of this older community of people with HIV, the HALL Team has spent two years interviewing key stakeholders, conducting focus groups, interviewing and surveying people aged 50 and over living with HIV in the greater London area. Our findings will, we hope, shed light on the distinctive lives, strengths, and needs of our elders with HIV, and help to shape policy and service.

Please email Nivaldo at nivaldojacob@gmail.com or call on 07825 786238 to confirm your attendance ASAP. Further information will be emailed to you closer to the date.

Dana Rosenfeld, PhD Principal Investigator, HIV and Later Life
And the HALL Team: Professor Jane Anderson; Dr David Asboe; Dr Jose Catalan; Mr Simon Collins; Dr Valerie Delpech; Ms Kelly Prince; Professor Damien Ridge; Dr Genevieve Von Lob
