Seeking young speakers for UK Student Stop AIDS Campaign Tour 2014
Posted on: September 11 2013, 09:01 am

Help inspire young HIV activists by being a Speaker for our Student Stop AIDS Campaign tour

Student Stop AIDS Campaign are looking for 2 young, passionate speakers (1 x international speaker from the Global South, and 1 x national speaker from UK/Ireland) to join us on our annual Student Stop AIDS  Campaign Tour http://www.students.stopaidscampaign.org/. In this voluntary role, you will tour the UK, to help bring to life the issues behind the HIV/AIDS pandemic by telling your personal story to students and decision-makers and inspiring them to take action. The tour group will also take part in and support student campaigning activities across the UK.

There are few things as powerful as hearing a young woman stand before you and talk quietly but steadily about the death of her parents from AIDS. Hearing about the stinging words of stigma from the person who had to endure them; or the injustice of treatment coverage from one lucky enough to receive it, brings the human reality of the pandemic sharply into focus.

You will need to commit from around 5st February 2014 until 28rd February (subject to some change) for approx three weeks, including a week of training on our campaigns and telling your story before the tour begins. After the training, the tour will visit around 15-20 Universities across the UK within a three week period, including meetings in Parliament with key UK decision makers.

This is an unpaid voluntary role however expenses incurred such as, travel, visas, food, basic accommodation and some phone costs will be covered throughout the tour.

For more information please see the Role Description and Application form attached.

Please complete the application form by Sunday 29th September 2013 and send to Kate at kates@restlessdevelopment.org.

Interviews will provisionally take place from 7th 9th October.
