Dear UK CAB Members,

Please see below an invitation to a meeting at the House of Lords in which they will be discussing sexual health and HIV commissioning in the first six months since the new framework came into force.

This might be a good opportunity to ask questions about what recently happened in Leicester with the commissioning of the HIV treatment services there.

Baroness Gould and Pamela Nash MP
Invite you to….
“Taking Stock: Commissioning & the New Public Health System Six Months in”
On Wednesday 30th October 2013
5.30 – 6.30pm, Committee Room 2a, House of Lords

Guest speakers include:
  • Dr Chris Wilkinson - President, Faculty of Sexual & Reproductive Health
  • Dr Janet Wilson - President, British Association for Sexual Health & HIV who will present findings from the FSRH/ BASHH survey of lead clinicians in local authority commissioned sexual health services.
  • Jane Anderson - Expert Adviser HIV, Sexual and Reproductive Health at Public Health England
  • Clare Montagu Service Director, Terrence Higgins Trust with
  • Jackie Boath, Executive Director of Operations, Brook

Following the implementation in April 2013 of public health aspects of the Health and Social Care Bill, a range of bodies, including Local Authorities, Clinical Commissioning Groups, and the NHS Commissioning Board have formally taken on new commissioning responsibilities for sexual health and treatment and care around HIV and AIDS. This meeting will explore emerging concerns that the “fracturing” of commissioning is leading to the Government’s vision of integrated care to take a step backwards, including the splitting of sexual health and HIV services. It will also seek to address such concerns by highlighting best practice of successful integrated commissioning practice in sexual health and HIV. This will be a joint meeting between the APPG on Sexual and Reproductive Health in the UK and the APPG on HIV & AIDS.
