The AVERT-funded 'Care in the Home Study', which looked at quality issues in home-based care provision in rural South Africa in the context of HIV and AIDS was featured in a PLOS ONE article on 29 April. The article focuses on key research findings relating to poor referrals systems between hospital/clinics and community care workers and the trend of care workers using their own funds and food to support clients with treatment adherence and travel to health appointments.

A link to the article and an interview with the study's lead field researcher and lead writer of the article, Ilona Sips, can be found here: www.avert.org/news/avert-funded-home-based-care-study-featured-plos-one
