Hi everyone

Please pass on this information to anyone you think might be interested that lives in the areas covered.

Thanks
Garry

“Terrence Higgins Trust have re-launched Work Positive and are looking for applications in London, Colchester and Ipswich.

Work Positive is a successful back to work programme for people living with HIV and is designed to support people living with HIV who have been out of work for some time to make steps back into the workplace.

It helps participants identify barriers to getting back into work, for example, low confidence or skills gaps. It is 6 – 8 month journey to build confidence and skills, putting someone in the best place possible for when the right vacancy comes along.

Each participant is matched with a mentor who will support them to write a CV, analyse their skills, set goals, job search and seek out other development opportunities. Most participants complete a volunteer work placement where they are supported by a line manager to deliver a real role, and the majority of these are based at Terrence Higgins Trust. Placements have consisted of general office administration support work, outreach work, health promotion, trainee advice work and reception. Finally there is a varied training programme which includes workshops on disclosure at work, confidence building, building relationships, managing anxiety and IT skills.

Since its inception, the programme has supported 48 people of which 20 have secured paid work. 100% of candidates reported feeling more work ready after the programme and 90% agreed that their employment prospects had improved as a result of the programme.

To apply, there’s a form to download from www.tht.org.uk/workpositive which can then be emailed or posted back to Ruth Burns on the address below. After that they'll be a face-to-face interview with Ruth, followed by a Group Induction at the end of August (28th and 29th)”
