NHS England: Five-year Forward View
Posted on: October 23 2014, 09:29 am

Dear All

The NHS '5-year forward view' for England has now been published. It outlines the authors' views on what has been successful and what has to change, along with some underlying rationale for change:

1. Why will the NHS need to change?

2. What will the future look like? A new relationship with patients and communities.

3. What will the future look like? New models of care.

4. How can we get there?

"This ‘Forward View’ sets out a clear direction for the NHS – showing why change is needed and what it will look like. Some of what is needed can be brought about by the NHS itself. Other actions require new partnerships with local communities, local authorities and employers. Some critical decisions – for example on investment, on local reconfigurations, or on various public health measures – need the explicit support of the elected government."

Well worth reading.
Best wishes

I second that.

Especially in relation to the different models approach, which includes the options which lie at the heart of some of the debates about the way forward for HIV care and treatment in the UK, i.e. hospitals becoming more involved in the provision of primary care, and primary care taking over some traditionally hospital-based services.
