New confidential benefits advice service for members of the public
Posted on: February 9 2015, 04:09 pm

Dear Colleague

We would like to make you aware of a new confidential benefits advice service for members of the public involved in the work of NHS England.  This service is only for people working with NHS England and is not for any general benefit enquiries. Please contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau the Department of Work and Pensions for any queries you may have that do not involve working with NHS England.

From the 29th of January 2015, Bedford Citizens Advice Bureau will be providing a new service to help resolve any benefit concerns that arise from payment of fees and expenses for public involvement.  The advice service is funded through a number of organisations (including NHS England) and will initially be offered as a pilot for one year and is available to members of the public currently thinking about getting involved in, or already involved in the work of NHS England.

How can the service help me?

Specially trained staff, with knowledge of how payment for involvement might affect those in receipt of welfare benefits, will be available to offer personalised advice eg:-

Support you to make an informed decision on whether and how to get involved, based on reliable advice on your benefit or funding conditions and the involvement opportunity

Support you in corresponding with the Department of Work and Pensions about your involvement work.

How do I contact the service?

Please email involve@bedfordcab.org.uk with a brief summary of your query in the first instance.  Or, if you prefer, you can call 01234 330604.

Best wishes
