2015 EACS WAVE workshop Barcelona
Posted on: August 14 2015, 08:35 am

See request below from EACS (via a colleague) about WAVES - their new women’s project - http://www.eacsociety.org/wave/about-wave/wave.html
------------
Adrienne Seed, a British artist, will be coordinating an art/storyboard collection at the WAVE workshop in Barcelona on 21 October. She will present the visual stories of four or five women who are HIV positive and actively open about their status and making WAVES:

-        Against stigma
-        Raising awareness
-        Against the virus itself
-        Their own health and lifestyle challenges, and so on.

The idea is to illustrate this by mapping the following major life events in images, photos, song texts, poems, etc. Adrienne will then “curate” them into poster format and the results will be displayed at the WAVE workshop. The content images should roughly correspond to the following stages in their life:

1.      Early years – childhood or family, this could be pictures as a child, family, house or storybooks;
2.      Education/career/aspirations – What did they want to be, what did they achieve;
3.      Romance, relationships, love – Self-explanatory – what were their hopes, their dreams, their realities?
4.      Moment of diagnosis – Which images portray the actual moment: Where were day, what music was on?
5.      Post-diagnosis – What was their mood, how did they feel? Was it a dark cloud, could they see not future?
6.      Medication – How did they visualize their meds – as helpers but are they their enemy?  Do  they see them as poison, as a rainbow of colours?
7.      Activism – Which images represent their decision to speak out? Are there any achievements, groups, speeches, events that they would like to portray;
8.      Hopes, dreams, and aspirations for the future (positive images in both senses of the word!)

I thought that maybe you could help us identify some positive women who would agree to participate. If they do, they could get in touch with Adrienne, and send her the images/words or anything else they would like to include. Adrienne will, of course, send the person a copy of the poster prior to display and ensure that they approve it.

Should you wish to know more about Adrienne, you can visit her website http://www.hivine.com/.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Take care, Joelle
