Disphagia (difficulty swallowing) in elderly makes taking meds a problem: Report
Posted on: January 15 2016, 06:11 pm

A new report from the Patients Association called ‘Survey of medicines related care of residents with dysphagia in care homes’ has found as many as 50% of residents are affected by swallowing difficulties (dysphagia), which can make tablets difficult or even impossible to swallow. The report looked at how care could be improved for elderly residents, with some of the 30 care homes surveyed reporting that up to 50% of its residents have been affected by dysphagia.

This would impact heavily on people living with HIV who reach older age and suffer from dysphagia.
