Invitation to HIV and Ageing Conference for professionals and service providers
Posted on: March 29 2017, 12:08 pm

The first generation of people diagnosed with HIV are now living into older age with one in three people accessing care in the UK aged 50 and over, and the proportion of people living with HIV in this age group continues to rise.

Terrence Higgins Trust would like to invite service providers and professionals from any sector to attend our Caring for a generation conference aimed at increasing understanding of the lived experience of older people living with HIV.  We hope that an awareness of the issues faced will help to guide the provision of supportive and inclusive services.

The day promises to be informative and interactive, with a range of speakers and workshops, including:-
the latest research on HIV and ageing (Professor Alan Winston - Imperial College London)
understanding shame and stigma (Maurice Nagington - Manchester University)
   women and HIV
   providing supportive welfare benefits advice
   use of language and terminology
sharing best practice around providing support services for older people living with HIV

When:    Monday 12 June 2017:  10:00 - 16:00 (Registration from 9.00)
Where:  NCVO, Society Building, 8 All Saints Street, London N1 9RL

Places are free and must be booked by 2 June by visiting www.caring-for-a-generation.eventbrite.co.uk

If anyone is also interested in running a workshop or having a stand at the event then please get in touch.
