Menopause and HIV - a workshop for women over 50 living with HIV in London
Saturday 20 May 10am – 3.30pm at River House London – lunch and refreshments provided
Terrence Higgins Trust working with River House Trust, Hammersmith

An important workshop for women who are experiencing or have experienced menopause.

‘Everyone loses bone density as they get older, but this process speeds up in women who have gone through the menopause because they have lower levels of the hormone oestrogen’.

'There is some evidence that women living with HIV may start the menopause a few years earlier than women without HIV, especially women with a low CD4 count.'

This workshop will look at the impact of HIV and menopause for women and what menopause means to someone living with HIV. It will consider the options for treatment and any changes you can make to improve your physical wellbeing. It will cover the questions to ask your clinic or doctor to make sure you're getting the most appropriate care and treatment and there will be a relaxed yoga session as part of the day - exercise is demonstrated to help improve bone density.

Facilitated by a nurse practitioner, this workshop offers a safe space to talk about your individual concerns and get the answers you need to best look after your health.
