Posted on: May 18 2017, 06:53 am

FYI
--------
Dear Stakeholders

NHS England and Public Health England are seeking applications from individuals to undertake the role of independent lay members of the Pre Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP)  Programme Oversight Group. The Programme Oversight Group is jointly chaired by NHS England and Public Health England. It’s role is to provide governance, assurance and control of the delivery of the PrEP Impact Trial programme, for example by receiving progress reports from its expert groups and by addressing risks and issues that have been escalated.

Specifically, the group will: approve and assure the trial protocol; oversee engagement with industry in the process of drug selection; establish and keep under review arrangements for the trial itself; receive trial information outputs; and plan post-trial arrangements. Governance with regard to financial arrangements between all parties is also managed via the Programme Oversight Group.

The trial coordination and implementation will be managed separately by the PrEP Impact Trial Team, advised by an expert Trial Steering Committee and a Community Advisory Board.

Lay members will use their knowledge, skills and experience to:
·         Assist NHS England and Public Health England in identifying the best ways to gain understanding of the diverse perspectives of service users/patients, carers and the public relevant to the work being reviewed by the group and provide a lay viewpoint in all group activities.

·         Provide ‘critical friend’ challenge into the group.
·         Provide strategic assurance that plans to capture the views of service users/patients and the public are robust and embedded in all aspects of the work.
·         Champion and advocate for increasing service user/patient and public awareness of the programme’s outcomes and achievements.

To request an application pack or if you have any questions about the role, please email england.scengagement@nhs.net

The closing date to receive completed applications is 5pm on Tuesday 13 June 2017
Travel expenses and other appropriate out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed and in addition the role will  attract an involvement payment in line with NHS England’s Patient and Public Voice Partners policy.

Regards
Specialised Commissioning Engagement Team
