Posted on: December 16 2018, 06:30 pm

Disclosures: Rewriting the Narrative About HIV collects together poetry, stories, artwork, and non-fiction which challenge the image of what it means to have HIV in Scotland today.   Disclosures was launched on 28th November 2018 at the World AIDS Day Parliamentary Reception at Holyrood, which was attended by MSPs from all five parties that currently sit within the Scottish Parliament.

Jackie Kay, the Scots Makar, said: “This is a brave, bold and beautiful book – breaking new ground. The stories and poems are full of surprises and carry out their fare share of healing along the way. I was happy to write the foreword to such a much needed collection.”

Edited by Angie Spoto, Disclosures includes work was nurtured by HIV Scotland’s Positive Stories project (https://www.positivestories.scot/about)  It is published by Stewed Rhubarb Press (https://stewedrhubarb.org/) an independent Edinburgh based publisher.

Contributors were people living in or with a connection to Scotland: RJ Arkhipov, Mark Carlisle, Kevin Crowe, Will Dalgleish, Stephen Duffy, J. William James, Matthew Lynch, James McAbraham, NJ Millar, Nobody, Michael Nugent, Oliver, Rio, Fraser Serle, Nathan Sparling, Angie Spoto and Jamie Stewart.  It features illustrations by Brian Houston.

Disclosures is a valuable contribution to the many pieces of work taking place across these islands in addressing and challenging HIV stigma.  Disclosures can be bought direct from the publishers, many independent book stores and via Amazon.
