MEETING INVITATION -
Posted on: April 30 2009, 10:18 am

To all treatment advocate and treatment writer members of the UKCAB.

There have been many conflicting reports on data from clinical trials and the D: A: D: Study is, perhaps, the most controversial study to date.

plus|v|e has secured funding and invited one of the Pricipal Investigators of the D: A: D: Study to come and talk about the data from that and other studies.  Simon Collins will also be presenting at the meeting and we aim to discuss the data so far and ways in which treatment writers and treatment advocates can interpret clinical study data and pass the information on to their readers, patients and other interested parties.

I have attached a pdf of the invite to this posting, but the information is pasted below.  Places are STRICTLY limited to 20 attendees and will be allocated on a 'first come - first served' basis.

I look forward to hearing from you all.

EFFECTIVE REPORTING OF CLINICAL STUDY DATA

HOW TO BALANCE NEWS, ACCURACY AND RELEVANCE

WITH PROF. JENS LUNDGREN & SIMON COLLINS

THURSDAY 14TH MAY 2009 1PM TO 4.30PM

HOLIDAY INN, JUNCTION 4, M4 HEATHROW

Clinical studies have interesting names and fascinating data. They have the ability to influence current and future prescribing practices and can change what was once “Gold standard” into plain “bog standard”.

You are invited to attend an afternoon workshop to discuss the effective reporting of clinical study data. Professor Jens Lundgren (Principal Investigator of the D:A:D: Study) and Simon Collins (from HIV i-Base) will look at a some of the current clinical trials, talk about the findings so far, discuss the data (and its implications for patients), talk about the way it has been presented by treatment writers and take a look at the impact that some of the trials have had on the way that HIV treatment is prescribed.

There will be the opportunity to discuss, in detail, any aspect of the presentation and we hope that there will be lively debate. This is a unique opportunity to hear from one of the Pricipal Investigators of the most widely reported and controversial studies of the last two years and one of the UKs most experienced advocate.

Places are strictly limited to treatment writers and treatment advocates from around the UK and will be offered on a first come, first served basis. Travel costs will be reimbursed (providing the most cost effective method of travel is used), a working lunch and afternoon refreshments will be provided.

Please fill out the form and fax back to 0845 094 4243 or send the information requested in an email to craig@plusve.co.uk
