I should also add to this comment that on a personnel note that this matter is being looked into and reviewed by The Equality Human Rights Commission in relation to the London Borough of Islington, I have also spoken too and emailed the Care Quality Commission and have been informed that they would forward the National AIDS Trust report onto the local CQC area managers and the internal review team.
As there is no national or local framework and directive, this report just confirms and raises serious issues both on local spending levels and upon the different local authorities approach.
From the freedom of information requests made to the London Borough’s of Camden, Islington, Hackney and Haringey, we know that not all boroughs match the department of health AIDS support grant and this raises a post code lottery of funding depending on where you live!
I have therefore taken the action to email The Local Government Ombudsman, The Local Government Association, The Mayor of London, The London Councils and the Pan London HIV Consortium providing them with the link to the National AIDS Trust report for them to action!
http://benefits.tcell.org.uk/forums/aidshiv-support-grant-local-authority I ask this forum to discuss and report who should now implement, discuss and look at consolidating a framework that support people with the same levels of funding per borough/per person and formulate future approach to care, support and services to those affected with HIV/AIDS?
I am informed that The National AIDS Trust will be distributing their report to all of the local authorities that participated with the survey. From my previous comment there are a total of 416 local authorities within the UK and ask what can be done to review and advise them?
