AdviceUK, in partnership with Stonewall Housing, is providing a programme of
awareness training on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues (LGBT) aimed at
advisers working in BAMER organisations, funded by Awards for All. Stonewall Housing
will deliver seven day-long training sessions between January and March 2010. The
sessions will enable attendees to:

• identify key elements of current legislation and the proposals in the new Equality
Bill around sexual orientation and gender identity
• recognise the key issues faced by LGBT people in accessing services, specifically
around housing
• implement best practice in service and advice provision to LGBT people
• effectively monitor sexual orientation and gender identity.

Alongside the training, Stonewall Housing has been funded to provide half day
consultations to a limited number of organisations, which can be used to assist with
policy development, equalities monitoring systems and with promotional material.
Training will be delivered at venues across London, hosted by members of the BAN

(BMER Advice Network), on the following dates:
• Tuesday 12 January 2010 (Pimlico area, London SW1V)
• Thursday 21 January 2010 (Holloway Road, London N7)
• Tuesday 2 February 2010 (Kilburn area, London NW6)
• Tuesday 16 February 2010 (Enfield area, London N9)
• Thursday 4 March 2010 NB (Old Street area, London EC1Y) Please note, this
session is for women only as it is being held at a women only venue
• Thursday 18 March 2010 (Hackney area, London N16)
• Tuesday 23 March 2010 (Leicester Square, London WC2H)

To book a place on a course, or to request a consultancy session, please complete the
attached booking form. The training is focused on advisers (employees or volunteers)
and advice service managers. Organisations can initially book two places, applications
for additional places will be held on a waiting list and allocated at a later date.
