Approaches to Community Participation in Preventive HIV Vaccine

---

During the 7th International Conference on HIV and Drug Therapy in Glasgow, November 14-18 2004, the Vaccine Working Group of the EATG and the UK-CAB held a workshop on 'Approaches to Community Participation in Preventive HIV Vaccine Trials" [all presentations are available for download]

The workshop provided an introduction to the need for community development and participation in this area of research, by demostrating approaches taken to identify, reach, recruit and maintain communities for the conduct of clinical trials in European countries, Eastern Europe and Central Asia. More than 50 advocates from all over the world discussed future strategies for improving community participation and lobbying actions at the national and European level.
